DESCRIPTION:
STEINWAY & SONS 1878 MODEL A 6 FOOT ARTCASE GRAND PIANO 
Steinway & Sons Model A, 6 Foot artcase grand piano with 85 keys, serial number 40904 made in 1878 at the Steinway & Sons New York Factory.  This stunning piano has been refurbished in 1992 and has a walnut finish with matching fabric padded bench.  The piano has no major issues and is in great condition.  
One owner with all restoration, repair and tuning provenance. 
This piano has been maintained/tuned as needed, or instructed by Steinway & Sons.
The action of the piano is not all Steinway parts, but the parts used are installed in most non Steinway factory restorations today.  The strings have been replaced and show no oxidation, the keys are original from the factory.  The hinges have not been replaced, but like the pedals, have been recoated and the piano lyre/trap work with pedals are in full working condition.
There are no new separations of the ribs, no separations of the rim.  The dampers systems are fully functional and the walnut finish is in fantastic condition.  The plate of the piano has been recoated and has no issues or cracks.
Given the age, condition, and alike pianos of the same make and model...this piano is amazing.
The finish on this piano is considered a crown jewel finish today.

Claude Jackson (now deceased) was a well known West Coast artist who executed numerous fine works many depicting the great movie stars of early Hollywood. Several of his works have been published and those originals now reside in the collections of various noted individuals and institutions. Most notable probably is his depiction of Marilyn Monroe in his
Red Kimono', 1975, published as the centerfold in Roger Taylor's anthology Marilyn in Art (1984).
