Old "Bolognese" guitar, rare instrument built in Bologna in 1929 by Ageo Castaldini and restored in 1961 by Ageo Castaldini (see photo 12), it is a guitar model that is extinct today but has been very popular since the end of XIX until the 40s. In reality it descends from late Renaissance instruments, when for the needs of the new music they began to add "flying basses", that is strings that made a single untampled note in the low register of plucked instruments, imitating the effect of a harp or also of keyboard instruments with a much greater range than an ordinary plucked instrument. There are examples of guitars with added basses as early as 1600, the tradition has never stopped. This guitar has been perfectly restored and is built entirely of cherry wood, including the neck. Chitarra "bolognese" antica, raro strumento costruito a Bologna nel 1929 da Ageo Castaldini e restaurato nel 1961 sempre da Ageo Castaldini (vedi foto 12), si tratt di un modello di chitarra oggi estinto ma che è stato molto in voga dalla fine dell'XIX fino agli anni '40. In realtà discende da strumenti tardo rinascimentali, quando per le esigenze della nuova musica si cominciarono ad aggiungere "bassi volanti", cioè corde che facevano una sola nota non tastata nel registro basso degli strumenti a pizzico, imitando l'effetto di un'arpa o anche di strumenti a tastiera con un'estensione molto maggiore di uno strumento a pizzico ordinario. Esistono esemplari di chitarre con dei bassi aggiunti già a partire dal 1600, la tradizione non si è mai interrotta. Questa chitarra è stata perfettamente restaurata ed è costruita interamente in legno di ciliegio, compreso il manico.
